Hi everyone - we just got back from our 4 day hike to Machu Picchu. We hiked 30 miles in 3 days...starting around 7000 ft above sea level up to 15,000 ft above sea level. It was much more intense and physically challenging than we expected...the altitude makes any movement difficult but we survived on cocoa leaves and teamwork. The feeling of accomplishment when we finally arrived at the Sun Gate overlooking Machu Picchu made it all worth it. The pics are great but cant really capture the enormity of the Andes Mountains or the beauty or spirit of the Inca ruins that we saw. We had a group of 13...10 of which were girls...the majority were from Austrailia plus 2 girls from Wales. Amie and I were the sole Americanos. Definitely an experience of a lifetime...enjoy the pics!
