SALVADOR, BRASIL

Salvador is filled with cobblestone streets, colorful artwork, and music influenced by African culture.
Main square at sunset in the Pelurinho district. The slaves were ordered to build huge buildings of worship, although they were not allowed to practice their own religion. Pelurinho means "whipping post", and this is the square where they were publicly & brutally beaten.
We saw at least 6 bands playing on the streets and in various venues

Kids out at night trying to make money by selling handfuls of peanuts and charming tourists...we fell for it...how can you resist these smiles
